Liberon Floor Sealer

Liberon Floor Sealer is a natural, oil-based finish for interior wood and parquet floors. It can be used as a stand alone product or as a sealer prior to waxing or varnishing with Liberon's range of floor finishing products. It is also suitable for sealing unvarnished cork surfaces.

Please Note: This product may dissolve bitumen-based adhesives.

  • For sealing MDF and other wooden surfaces, try Liberon Spirit Sanding Sealer
  • For sealing stone and other hard surface floors, use Liberon Natural Finish Stone Floor Sealer

Preparation

Any previous finishes must be removed and the surface stripped back to bare wood. ensure that floors to be treated are clean, dry and free from dust, dirt or any other surface contaminants.

  1. Ensure that floors have been correctly and properly sanded, if required
  2. Fill any gaps or imperfections with Liberon Wood Filler or other suitable floor filler

Application

Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.

  1. Shake well before use
  2. Apply a reasonable coat of Floor Sealer with a brush, roller or lint-free cotton cloth
  3. Allow the oil to penetrate for 5-10 minutes, then remove the excess with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth
  4. Liberon recommend a minimum of 3 coats (giving a Satin sheen finish), allowing 5 hours between coats
  5. Additional coats may be required on porous surfaces or to achieve a higher sheen finish
  6. The more coats applied, the glossier the sheen produced
  7. Allow 24 hours for the last coat of Floor Sealer to harden before applying a wax or varnish on top

Aftercare

Regular Cleaning

Floors can be kept clean by dry sweeping or using a vacuum cleaner on a regular basis. For more stubborn marks and scuffs a dump, microfibre cloth or mop can be used with a dedicated wood floor cleaner. Any spills should be wiped up immediately.

Wooden floors should never be cleaned with household detergents or cleaners as these can degrade or strip the finish over time.

Maintenance

When using Floor Sealer as a stand-alone product, sealed floor surfaces may need to be re-sealed once a year, or more frequently in areas of high foot traffic. Simply ensure that the floor is clean, dry and free from all surface dust and debris, re-apply a thin maintenance coat of Liberon Floor Sealer all over or just to the affected areas.

Finishing

Once fully dry, the floor surface may be finished with Liberon Floor Wax or Liberon High Resistance Floor Varnish.
